The Client Challenge
Hadlow Tower is a rare, fully restored Grade I listed Gothic tower in Kent, dating from the early 19th century. Following years of community fundraising and a restoration completed in 2013, it was essential that the building and its grounds were protected from vandalism and unauthorised access.
The security challenge was made more complex by the fact that a local history society runs regular guided tours of the tower for members of the public throughout the peak holiday season. Any security solution needed to protect the site without disrupting legitimate visitor access.
Our approach
RemoteZone carried out an initial site survey to assess what security measures would be needed to satisfy the insurer’s policy requirements, and to identify what physical security measures should be installed.
We then put the following in place:
- An SSAIB-approved temporary monitored alarm system
- An SIA-approved 24-hour alarm response service
- Regular property inspections carried out by SIA-approved local keyholders every two weeks
- A practical access arrangement to allow the local history society to continue its guided tours without compromising site security
Results
RemoteZone took over security at Hadlow Tower in late 2015. Since then, the tower has remained secure and free from vandalism and unauthorised visitors, while the local history society has been able to continue its tours throughout the holiday season without interruption.
